“The Sphere”
The Bragernes Tunnel, Drammen City, Norway. 2002.
Light sculpture in a roundabout inside a tunnel. Semi-transparent uninflammable polyester, illuminated by simple fluorescent tubes mounted around a big column inside the sphere. Diameter sphere 7,5 meters, hight 3,8 meters.
The project “Vegpakke Drammen”, including the light object in the tunnel, was awarded with the prize “Vakre Vegers pris”; – “The Prize for Beautiful Roads”, in 2004. The object has become a “symbol” for Drammen City.

“The Sphere transformes a subterranean area of stress and hazard, to be a place that gives good and exiting experiences. The sphere itself, the light object, is a brave and interesting art project, and it brings the tunnel, and the road planning, to new dimentions. It puts Drammen City at the world map.”
