Equilibrium

Om arbeidet

What is it that most people seek in life? Yes, an existence where one feels that oneself and life are in some kind of balance. Different people have different temperaments and ways of seeking and achieving equilibrium. Some throw themselves into challenges that seem mindless to others, while some seek stability that to others can seem suffocating. But if life crashes, when the balance in life crashes, – as most of us experience at one or more times in our lives, to a greater or lesser degree of severity, then one may find that life becomes a Gordian knot that one cannot figure out on one’s own.

And as a metaphor, being able to untangle what is experienced as a Gordian knot in life can be a driving force for the interaction between the visitors/users of Gyldengården and the employees/advicers. Together they will find solutions, which in turn contribute to restoring the disturbed balance. The artwork, which at first glance, seen from below and above, seems as complex as an impossible knot, but upon closer inspection, one can discover that several lines meet and go in the same direction, and that the object is built up of layers, which create different levels with pauses and air in between. Each layer is readable and understandable – one just has to discover it.
